Friday Night Session - How does it feel to be chosen? PDF Print E-mail
 Dr. Jesse Middendorf

Dr. Middendorf reminded us that God looks at us individually and says, "I see something in you that causes me to believe you could be like Me. Therefore, I choose you." We need to rest in God’s ability to call and equip us—for whatever task He puts before us.

Dr. Middendorf also challenged us to consider, "How deep is the ‘yes’ we’re saying to God?" He reminded us that we’ll continue to say "yes" to God throughout our lifetime. Sometimes that "yes" will come more easily than at other times.

God is inviting us into a partnership that can change the world. We’re invited to be world-changers. God wants utter abandonment from us.

Linda’s Thoughts: As I reflected over what Dr. Middendorf said to us on Friday evening, I thought back to a Sunday in the mid-80s when I sang these words: "…Change my dreams and plans for I’m placing my whole life in Your hands." I thought I knew what that meant—the end of a relationship with someone I loved—little did I dream that it would include a move to Kansas City and a new job and career.

I’ve learned that I can trust God to take care of me—even when it seems there is no way the finances will work! I also learned that God is big enough for me to ask hard questions like: "Why? This doesn’t make sense." "What’s the purpose of all of this?" "Are You there, God?" And the list goes on. In the midst of these questions, I hear God singing over me, "How I love you. Child, I love you!"

Continue to say "yes" to God. You’re in for the ride of your life—what an exciting, scary, exhilarating ride it will be!
